Sharing plants and joy with strangers through Plant Drop Australia

Cut it, pot it and share it with a total stranger. The act of giving a plant to someone you will probably never see and getting nothing in return is a hugely popular idea, going by the thousands of people who have enthusiastically joined Facebook groups promoting action. The Plant Drop Australia Facebook group gathered more than 5, members in just a couple of weeks and it's still growing. Micka says he started the Facebook group as a way to spread love and happiness through the act of leaving plants for strangers to find and take home. Micka can't quite put a finger on exactly when and why he started to get into indoor plants, but looking after them and seeing them flourish has helped him grow as a person, he says.

Quarantine gardens went a long way toward keeping people sane during lockdown both in the Czech Republic and elsewhere. Fortunately, for those who want to continue enjoying the calming affects of plants in the post-quarantine world, there are a number Prague groups devoted to plant swapping, a highly convenient and affordable way to acquire new plants — and plant-loving friends. She goes on to say thatin her experience, favorite house plants in the Czech Republic tend to be monsteras, ficus, and pileas. The Czechs, she says, have historically been collectors of cacti.

Launch the garden season with your friends this year by hosting a plant-swap party. Never been to one? The basics: Bring plants divided from your garden beds and additional container plants to share.
